The buyer group comprised The Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Partnership, MGX and BlackRock's Global Infrastructure Partners, alongside Wren House Infrastructure Management, the direct infrastructure investments arm of the Kuwait Investment Authority. The target is a large hyperscale data center platform with 50 campuses and more than 5 gigawatts of operational and planned capacity across the US and Latin America.
The consortium agreed to acquire 100% of Aligned's equity from Macquarie Asset Management-managed funds and co-investors, at an implied enterprise value of about US$40 billion.
On completion, the deal was described as one of the largest private investments yet made in digital infrastructure, with the stated rationale of funding further build-out of next-generation cloud and AI infrastructure.
